Waterfront Walkway

Being located directly on the waterfront comes with many perks. Aside from the stunning views overlooking the Hudson River and New York Skyline, Newport boasts a beautifully landscaped waterfront boardwalk with scenic views ideal for walking, running, and biking. The boardwalk stretches from Newport to Hoboken and features the iconic Newport lighthouse overlooking Downtown Manhattan.

Transforming the skyline is a new art installation,Water's Soul, by renowned artist Jaume Plensa on the recently finished Newport Pier. This monumental sculpture looks over the Hudson River and invites visitors to appreciate the water all around us.

Newport also features Jersey's City's only urban beach - where else can you dip your toes in the sand and take in the Manhattan bathed in sunset?

Located directly on the Hudson River and overlooking Downtown's skyline is the contemporary Italian neighborhood favorite restaurant Battello, with an exquisite menu created by Chef Ryan DePersio, one of New Jersey’s top culinary masters.

Water's Soul, Jaume Plensa (2020)

The newest addition to the walkway is Water’s Soul by world renowned artist Jaume Plensa. Dedicated in October 21, 2021, the sculpture stands approximately 80 feet tall and is positioned on a newly redeveloped, historic Hudson River waterfront pier.

“One drop of water is quite alone, like a single person, but many drops together can create a tidal wave, and form immense rivers and oceans; When individuals come together to exchange ideas and create community, we can build something incredibly powerful.” - Jaume Plensa
