The analytics-driven personal finance site SmartAsset ranked the 93 largest cities in the U.S. according to the following factors: walkability, income after housing, population density, unemployment rate, property crime rate, and violent crimes.
Jersey City squeezed itself to the top of the list by scoring high in population density, walkability, and annual income after housing. The close proximity to New York City allows Jersey City residents to work in Manhattan, where wages tend to be higher while enjoying lower living costs. But of course, this is nothing we didn’t already know.
The top five most livable cities in the United States rank as follows:
1. Jersey City, New Jersey
2. Irvine, California
3. Plano, Texas
4. New York, New York
5. Honolulu, Hawaii
We might not have beautiful white beaches like Honolulu, but it is clear that our overall standard of is something to be envious of.
