Water Fun at Newport

Jun 24, 2021

Summer has officially arrived and here at Newport we can’t wait to dive right in! Who doesn’t love jumping into a cold body of water on a sweltering day, or taking in the breeze off the Hudson River waterfront? Lucky for Newport residents, there’s no shortage of places in and around Jersey City to dip into. Read ahead for our top 5 places to cool off with some water fun this summer!

Newport Splash Pad

Kiddos will delight in spending an afternoon at Newport’s very own splash pad water park! With sprinklers and lots of room for playing, the splash pad is the ideal place for summertime. Kids can slide, swing, and climb in the nearby playground too before hopping into the water to cool off.

Urban Paddle

Located out of nearby Liberty Harbor Marina, head to Urban Paddle for an amazing paddle experience right on the Hudson! From kayaking to paddle boarding, Urban Paddle is beginner-friendly and has tons of options for getting out on the water. Book a private or two-person paddle board lesson, or opt for a one-hour kayak rental. Urban Paddle also features themed kayak tours, including a night LED tour and a Liberty Isle Adventure tour opening in July. Find more information and make a reservation here.

Newport Beach

At Newport, we are proud to offer the only urban beach located along the Hudson River. Our private sandy beach stretches over 7,500 square feet, with lots of room for lounging and taking in epic views of the Manhattan skyline. Spread out a beach towel and relax with a good book while enjoying the breeze off the waterfront. Our beach is also home to concerts and other summer events throughout the season!

Jersey Beach Day

Looking for a beach day outside of Newport? NJ is home to some of the best public beaches around! Known for its family-friendly vibe, Point Pleasant Beach is just about an hour from downtown Jersey City and features amusement rides, an aquarium, and a boardwalk filled with yummy summer food options. Or scope out a spot along the sandy shores of Asbury Park Beach. Also about an hour outside of Newport, Asbury Park offers opportunities for swimming, surfing, and soaking in the sun, in addition to a vibrant seaside restaurant and nightlife scene.

Pool Time

As a Newport resident, there’s no shortage of private and public pool options available in our surrounding area. Close to home, residents can snag indoor pool time at Newport Swim & Fitness for lessons and fitness-related swimming. Residents of The Beach, our latest addition to the Newport family, enjoy access to our newest resort-style pool and sun deck. And Jersey City is home to excellent public pool options, ideal for splashing around with the whole family. Check out Lafayette Aquatic Center nearby for both a main pool and a kiddie pool.
