Holiday Treats to Bake at Newport's Gourmet Kitchens

Here we'll share a couple of amazing and simple recipes that are perfect for sharing with your friends and family this holiday season.

Cornflake Christmas Wreaths

These Christmas treats are very easy and so fun to make and share with your friends! You'll need the following:

 

  • 1 stick of butter

  • 10-ounce marshmallow package

  • 1 1/4 teaspoons of green food coloring

  • 4 1/2 cups Cornflake cereal

  • Red M&Ms

 

Preparation:

 

  • Melt the butter in a large pot. Add marshmallows, and stir until melted.

  • Stir in the food coloring. This will give them a perfect evergreen color.

  • Stir in the cereal.

  • Quickly use a greased 1/4 cup measuring cup to dump the cornflake mixture in mounds on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper. Use your fingers (grease them well) to form these into wreath shapes.

  • Decorate with red M&Ms before they set.

  • Let cool completely and store them in an airtight container.

 

Peppermint Oreo Truffles

Peppermint Oreo Truffles are a sweet holiday candy made with just four ingredients. The ingredients are:

 

  • 36 Oreo cookies

  • 8 ounces of cream cheese, softened

  • 1/3 cup plus 1/4 cup finely crushed candy canes

  • 16 ounces white chocolate melting wafers

 

Preparation:

 

  • Place the Oreo in a food processor until finely ground.

  • Put the ground cookies in a large bowl with the cream cheese and 1/3 cup of crushed candy canes.

  • Mix them using a wooden spoon or a hand-held mixer on low speed.

  • Shape this into 1-inch balls and place them on a parchment paper-lined baking sheet.

  • Refrigerate for 30 minutes to 1 hour.

  • Melt baking chips in a heavy-bottomed saucepan. Dip the Oreo balls in one at a time. Return them to the parchment paper-lined baking sheet. Before the white chocolate sets, sprinkle them with crushed candy canes.

  • Put back into refrigeration for 1 hour to set.
