Ice Skating Lessons at Newport Skates

Newport Skates, located on 95 River Drive South, will soon be opening for the winter season, welcoming friends and neighbors to spend weekends and afternoons on the ice. A variety of skating lessons will be offered for children of all ages and are taught by experienced coaches to make skating skill practice fun and exciting.

 

Private Lessons

Private Lessons will be held during regular business hours each day and are scheduled upon demand directly with the coaches via phone of email. The 30-minute private one-on-one lesson costs $50 and each additional student to join the lesson will cost additional $10 (example: four students total will cost $80). Private lessons are capped at a maximum of five students and do not include the $6 skate rentals. Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the lesson in order to check-in. Once lessons are booked that time is set and cancelations must be made 24 hours prior to the time scheduled. Please keep in mind that there are no refunds once the lesson begins, as the time and effort of the coach is valuable.

Basic Skill Group Lessons

Basic Skills Group Lessons are offered every Saturday and Sunday at 10 am. This 45-minutes lesson offers basic skating skill instructions for children. Children must be at least 4+ years old to participate in the Basic Skill Group Lesson. The lesson does not require reservations but runs on a first-come-first basis with a maximum capacity of 20 students. The lesson costs $20 and includes skate rentals.

Monday – Friday: 4pm – 9pm

Saturday: 11am – 9pm

Sunday: 11am – 7pm

 

Additional Information

• The smallest skate rental offered is a toddler's size 8 and the largest adult skate is size 14.
• Feel free to bring personal ice skates
• Double blade skates or “runner” as they are called for toddlers cannot be used for a lesson
• Each student participating in a lesson will receive a bracelet for access to the rink for the whole day
• Parking is located at the River Market Garage (20 North Blvd). Street parking is limited to one hour.
